There are over 100,000 living Fijis throughout the world, and only nine of them are current Archons.  There are over 6,000 Undergraduate Brothers at 150-plus chapters and colonies in the U.S. and Canada, and only two of them are current Archons.  We have the honor and privilege to hear one of those Undergraduate Archons as our Pig Dinner keynote speaker, Bill Downing (Wittenberg '15).

Bill Downing is a former chapter president, former Rush chair, and is a current pledge education committee chair for our Sigma Chapter at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.  During the summer of 2014, while in a Chicago internship, he lived at the Northwestern Chapter for a couple of weeks, attended the DePaul Chapter's officers' installation ceremony, spoke at the University of Chicago Pig Dinner, and attended the Chicago Graduate Chapter's Cubs' game.  He knows Chicago, and he knows the Undergraduate and Graduate Brothers from the chapters sponsoring this year's special Pig Dinner!

Chicago Bulls - Graduate Chapter Event - December 2014

We had a great time at the Chicago Bulls game in December!  We had 25 undergraduate and graduate brothers from 12 different chapters represented.  Here are a few photos from our event...

Graduate Chapter Survey: Would you Attend a Chicago Bulls Game for $50?

We're trying to gauge if there is enough interest to purchase group tickets at $50/each for a Bulls' game. We need at least 25 people to qualify for the group rate, and prices go up on September 26th. So, I need to know now if you would likely attend at the $50/person rate. Graduate Brother Joel Davis wants 2 tickets, and I'll take one. So we need just 22 more!

These are "300 Level" seats, best available to keep our group together, and the $50 fee will be our actual cost from the Bulls. The two alternative dates we're looking at are:

7:00 pm - Tuesday, December 2nd (Dallas)
7:00 pm - Wednesday, December 10th (Brooklyn)

I am NOT asking for payment right now, but please send me an email if you would like to attend, and how many tickets (mainly for Fijis, but guests welcome) you want. DePaul Cabinet Holds Strategic Planning Retreat to Plan for 2014-15 Year

Our new officers at our Lambda Pi Chapter at DePaul University held an officers' transition retreat and strategic planning session on Saturday, September 6th, at the DePaul Student Center.  Plans were developed for recruitment, philanthropy, scholarship, graduate relations, brotherhood, finances, social, and risk management.  Fall classes begin on September 10th, and Rush begins shortly thereafter.  Great job, Brothers - good luck with your fall recruitment!

2014 "Phi Gam Pro Am" Golf Outing A Success!

Congratulations to the Fiji Brothers who played in the 2014 "Phi Gam Pro Am" golf outing on Friday, August 22, 2014, hosted by our Lambda Pi Chapter at DePaul University!

The heavy rains the night before had an impact, as golf carts were not allowed on the course last Friday.  A couple of Graduate Brothers bowed out that morning, but they donated their registration fees - thank you!

The six stellar Brothers in the photo above pressed on, and completed the course.  Lost balls and mulligans were NOT counted.  Everyone had a great time!

We'll explore plans for the 2015 "Phi Gam Pro Am"!  Stay tuned...


 

Chicago Graduate Chapter Honored at the 166th Ekklesia in Indianapolis

 

Hey!  Look at this certificate!

 

Our Chicago (Kappa) Graduate Chapter just won an Honorable Mention in the Brightman Award competition at the International Fraternity's 166th Ekklesia in Indianapolis on July 26, 2014.  We competed in the category with other PGD graduate chapters with over 75 members.



And this follows up nicely to our Honorable Mention in the same category in 2012.  Here's that certificate, too:

 

Well done, Chicago-area Brothers!  We've had a few nice events since 2012 - Pig Dinners, after-work receptions, Cubs' games, golf outings - and we need to do more!

 

What about a Bulls' game sometime this fall or winter?  Any other ideas?

 

Thanks to everyone who has supported our Chicago Graduate Chapter!  But, as those of you who remember will know, it is "neither the world's recognition nor the applause of men" that drives us.  We just want to offer a networking and brotherhood forum for Chicago Fijis to honor our motto of "Not for college days alone."
