DePaul Fiji Colony Posts Newsletter!

Our Undergraduate Brothers at our Delta Colony at DePaul University in Chicago have just released their latest newsletter!  Please take a moment to click on this link to catch up on the IMPRESSIVE success of these Fijis:

As you'll read in the newsletter, our Colony Brothers just pledged and initiated 11 men this fall, nearly doubling their size.  And they're planning to recruit a winter pledge class, hoping to get their numbers to 30 men!  They have the highest GPA among all DePaul fraternities, they have conducted more philanthropy and community service activities than chapters twice their size, and they are some remarkable, impressive young men.

If all goes well during their Winter Quarter 2013, the Colony plans to petition the International Fraternity next spring for a charter as a full-fledged chapter in Phi Gamma Delta, with chartering scheduled for the fall of 2013.  To get there, they will have to raise about $25,000.  Stay tuned!  As we get closer, we'll outline ways in which local Chicago-area Graduate Brothers can contribute to the DePaul Fiji Colony's success!  Until then, please read about their amazing accomplishments in the latest newsletter.

DePaul Delta Colony Pledges 11 Men!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Brothers of our Delta Colony at DePaul University for pledging 11 fine gentlemen!  With the Colony's active membership at 12 Brothers, they nearly DOUBLED their membership roster, now at 23!  Great job, Brothers!

The full membership of Brothers & Pledges, now at 23 men (one missing from photo).

The 11 new Pledges of Phi Gamma Delta at DePaul University.
(Okay, okay, so they weren't looking in my direction for the photo!)

The challenge for the Colony now becomes one to initiate all 11 men for 100% retention!  Good luck, Brothers!

Over 80 Brothers Attend 10th Annual Norris Pig Dinner!

We had a VERY SUCCESSFUL Pig Dinner on April 26th, as over 80 Graduate and Undergraduate Brothers attended.  Sixteen different chapters were represented, in addition to our Delta Colony at DePaul University.

Archon Councilor Mike Lucas (Bradley '83) gave a moving keynote speech, Alex Conway (Northwestern '12) won the prestigious Guy B. Early Memorial Award for Phi Chapter, and Demetri Chrissos (DePaul '15) won the inaugural BCA Brotherhood Award.

Above, John Kim (Northwestern '15), left, and Dr. Steve Lindell (Illinois '57), shared the honors of kissing the pig.

Please check back to this Blog often, as we'll post information about upcoming Chicago Graduate Chapter events!

Support our Fiji Delta Colony at DePaul University - If they raise $1,000, the Colony Community Service Committee Chair Demetri Chrissos '15 will shave his head! (And he needs it!)

This is Demetri.

Demetri NEEDS a haircut.

His brothers of the Fraternity are seeking your help to make this happen.

Here is how you can help.

On April 20th, DePaul is hosting a 24-hour Dance Marathon, aimed at raising money for the Children's Miracle Network and the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Demetri, our community service committee chairman, recently made a commitment to be a dancer for FIJI's DemonTHON team. In order to actually participate in the dance, Demetri has to personally raise a minimum requirement of $250 and the FIJI team goal is $1,000.

While Demetri may not be the best dancer, we all support him and the DePaul campuswide philanthropy initiative. Dancers are competing to try and win points that will allow them to take breaks (such as going to the bathroom) - these points come from dollars raised.

Here is where the fun part comes in.

If Demetri raises $750, he will trim his hair to look respectable and clean cut.

If Demetri raises $1000, he will shave his entire head.

The brothers of the Delta Colony would like nothing more than for Demetri to shave his head! Here is how you can help.

You can donate any amount you would like to this cause. Please send a check or money to the Colony Treasurer - please make checks out to "Delta Colony of Phi Gamma Delta" and mail to the address below. Payments by credit/debit cards can be done online [to access please contact the Treasurer].

Thank you for your support. We hope to have a new Demetri - with no hair!
